NRSC is involved in software development activities. Advanced Regulatory Information System – ARIS and NUCMAT are software applications developed by NRSC in the framework of US NRC Radiation Sources Regulatory Partnership program, to assist Regulatory Bodies in managing their regulatory activities connected with registration of sources of ionizing radiation, licensing of the use of sources, accounting of nuclear materials, registering and tracing inspections.
ARIS promotes a consistent and common approach to the regulatory control of radiation sources, licensing and inspection processes while offering the flexibility to respond to the specific needs of a Regulatory Body, with respect to their national legislative frameworks, administrative structures and institutional and regulatory frameworks.
NUCMAT is a special purpose software that allows introducing and maintaining an accurate inventories/database of nuclear materials. NUCMAT can be installed both at state level and at facility level and can be used by regulatory bodies, operators and facilities. The State Level NUCMAT serves as a central command node that collects all relevant information from field nodes (facilities and LOFs) via secure connection or by encrypted e-mail.
As of June 2017, a new version of the ARIS has been released – ARIS v2.5. This version comprises the best features of the previous versions of ARIS software and offers additional features, which enhance the managerial aspects of ARIS and add more convenience for simultaneous working with different modules.
